The first project that lead to all the others. . .

My dresser project. . . .
It all started with this dresser.  Although it didn't always look like this.  My sister and I were on a hunt to the Rose bowl Swap meet for the perfectly weathered dresser that I would use as an entry table.  I found a beautiful hand distressed and painted piece.  The lady wanted $325.  I would have given it to her, as the work involved was clearly worth it.  Then my sister says, "you know we could just find an old dresser and do it ourselves".  That sounded like fun to me.

My sister and I have always loved painting and working with our hands.  We were creative and could use the extra sister time.  She found an ugly dresser online and off we went.  I offered the lady $60 for this dresser and an end table that kept staring at me.  We took the pieces to my house and began to imagine what my entry table/dresser could be.  After the right color was chosen we went to work.

The sanding and cleaning and painting and sanding and staining and painting. . . .It took some time but I finally got it right.  I got the exact piece I was looking for.  I absolutely love it and so did everyone else who saw it.  This brings me to our recent project. . . Sorella Salvage.  Sorella means sister in Italian.  We started a little labor of love.  We find old pieces and fix them up.  It's been so fun and exciting.  The inspiration is everywhere and something inside of us has sparked a new found need to create.  We have also been busy making beautiful art from old pallets and found vintage objects.  My husband has also been making light fixtures from salvaged finds.

Here is the before pic...

Here is the end table we did.  Kind of beachy and cool.

Some other fun projects we have been working on...
